announces remainder of Coaching Staff DBAT 17U

DBAT has completed its coaching
staff for the DBAT 17U team with the additions of Cory
Thornton and Alan McDougal.
Coach Thornton graduate from Lewisville High School
and was a member of Paris JC and Stephen F Austin University
baseball teams. Coach Thornton is in his 12th season
at Brookhaven College and his third as head coach. Coach
Thornton is in his 4th year as a coach with DBAT. Prior
to coaching with DBAT Coach Thornton coached the highly
successful Dallas Knights which he started in 1996.
The Knights joined with DBAT in 2003 and he has been
instrumental with DBAT’s success as back to back
participants in the Connie Mack World Series in Farmington,
New Mexico. He has coached Connie Mack baseball for
14 seasons.
Coach
McDougal was born in Sherman, Texas. He graduated from
Sherman High School in 1992 where he was a 3-year varsity
letterman for the Bearcats. McDougal went to Baylor
University and was a member of the Baylor Baseball team
for 2 years and graduated from Baylor in 1996 with a
BA in History and a minor in Math. Coach McDougal is
currently in his 11th year in coaching and his third
as a head coach at Colleyville Heritage. Coach McDougal
is in his first year as a coach with DBAT.
Rusty
Greer to coach DBAT 17U

DBAT is please to announce that
former Major League Player and Texas Rangers HOF Club
Member Rusty Greer will be the Head Coach of the DBAT
17U team for 2008.
Rusty was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 10th (271st
player) round of the 1990 amateur draft and made his
Major League debut on May16, 1994 against the Oakland
A’s going 3/6, 1 HR and 3 RBI. Greer was the Rangers
Rookie of the Year in 1994 when he hit .314 in 80 games
and 277 at-bats in the strike-shortened season. His
best years were in 1996-99, a four-year period in which
he hit .315 and averaged 105 runs, 20 home runs and
99 RBIs while helping the Rangers win three division
championships. He is the first member of the 1996 team
to be elected to the Rangers Hall of Fame. That was
the first Rangers team to win a division title and is
still the most revered team in franchise history. He
would spend all fifteen years of his professional baseball
career in the Rangers organization, a feat that had
become a rarity among professional ballplayers thanks
to free agency.
Dillon
Lovelace, Steve Karsay and Lance Phillips to Coach DBAT

Dillon played High School baseball
at Liberty Christian in Denton, TX and was a member
of the State Championship team. He accepted a scholarship
to New Mexico State with additional offers from Auburn,
Nebraska, Texas Tech, and TCU. He played college baseball
at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. Where
the Aggies won Sun Belt Conference Championship, and
reached consecutive NCAA Regional Tournaments. After
graduation, he coached Liberty Christian to consecutive
TAPPS 5A State Tournaments. Dillon is not new to select
baseball having coached the Texas Blackhawk’s
organization and for NorTex Baseball; he lead NorTex
Baseball to 2007 AABC Mickey Mantle 15U National Championship.
Steve was a RHP for the Oakland Athletics, Cleveland
Indians, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, and Texas
Rangers. Karsay grew up in the College Point neighborhood
in Queens, New York City, just a few miles from Shea
Stadium. A 1st round draft pick of the Toronto Blue
Jays in 1990, Karsay was traded to the Athletics along
with outfielder Jose Herrera for Rickey Henderson on
July 31, 1993. Steve announced his retirement on June
18, 2006. He finished his 11-year Major League career
with a 32-39 record, 41 saves and a 4.01 ERA in 357
career appearances, including 40 starts. He was part
of the NorTex staff winning the 2007 AABC Mickey Mantle
15U National Championship

in the Connie Mack World Series in 2006 and 2007. We
